Cool New Hand Tool Game - Play Here
Cool New Hand Tool Game - Play Here
OK just for a bit of fun and possible education, here is a cool new game that could develop into an ongoing competition.
Odd One Out
Here's how it works.
Someone posts a picture of a group of handtools that all have something in common except for one which is the odd one out.
Forum members guess the odd one out and the winner gets to post the next picture puzzle and be the judge. And so on.
Simple Huh!
If you are the winner and don't have a picture or want to pass, then say so and it is open to anyone to add a new picture to the post.
If there are no posts in a week, the original poster offers another.
I can see this getting to be tricky where someone will post a group of Stanley handplanes and they are all type 12 except for one which is a type 19 - or even harder...
Bring it on I say.....
OK I'll kick us off.
Here is a group of chisels and one of them does not belong.
Number them from the left.
Good luck

One on the far right has no hoop?
I only just realised that most of them are titans..

Yes, no hoop on that one.
It is also a Titan and has a really dodgy handle, that I will replace with the barrel shape of the others when it comes up on the to-do list.
Not the odd one out though.
Might be time for a clue.
One of the chisels is not Australian.
Have another go

Well done Luban.
Yes, all bar number 5 are Titans.
In spite of the common shape, number 5 is a very nice Ward.
Even though it is the same width as number 6, I've kept it for it's length and the fact that the steel is really excellent.
OK Luban you are up.
I look forward to your puzzle.

blow me down I got it right?
I'll have to have a ponder tonight and come up with something tomorrow.
Nice thread btw Tom I can see this being a lot of fun and I can also see some serious driveby gloats on the way too (did I forget compliment you on that lovely row of sockets?)
tomorrow then

I took the photo down at the shed this afternoon, and when I came up for afternoon tea, my wife and her best friend (infants teacher) arrived.
I showed them and she started singing "....one of these things is not like the other, one of these things is not the same....." from Sesame Street.
It was then I thought of the game.
Funny thing - she picked it straight away because it was a different colour.....!!!!!
Go figure.
Anywho - it's a bit of fun - hope folks like it.
I look forward to tomorrow.
Regards from Tele Point

Odd one out is...........
Hi,
I think the odd one out is the scraper thing second shelf down - you push with your hands side by side?

The wooden infill planes on the top shelf are obviously not casted like all the other planes. There seems to be a mix of manufacturers too .. the scraper plane on the second shelf doesn't immediately look like a Stanley, but the logo looks sort of like a Stanley logo. So I'd go with the infil looking planes at the top being different.

My guess would be top shelf, left side back. All the rest appear to be Stanley, that wooden one isn't.
