Default Show off your 'Just-cos-I-can' tools

OK folks, I'm sure lots of you have a tool or three that are only there because you could. They may have little or no practical use, but you saw it and said "I want that"

I found a Starrett No 20 machinist's square on ebay - absolute bargain, RRP over $3k, i got it for $400 shipped from USA. The catch is that the blade is 900mm long, the beam is 500 mm long and the thing weighs about 12kg. It's also stupidly precise - 1 in 60,000. Haven't found a use for it yet, but it looks impressive

    Pics will be forthcoming

That's a beast of a square. What do you think you'll end up using it on?

Getting a crook back using it I reckon Groeneaj. What a whopper. I think it had pups because I received one as a gift which looks like a baby compared to that. I had to check the price twice. I'd get killed if I spent that much on something I never used. Why is it so expensive it looks as if all the gold wore off so why. And it's American too. I can understand a Pommie one with a bit of age being worth a bit but a US model, what am I missing?

The crazy price is due to the precision - 1 in 60,000

It has been used to check a couch frame for squareness when a 600mm framing square was too small

I wish it was my shed, it's just the work factory... but I have access whenever I want
