Cutting kerf in saw handles
One idea ... Slotting a Saw Tote…. – The Saw Blog
I would have thought maybe hold the blade still and move the handle ...

I guess different folks find different methods easier, Paul. I like to run around the slot with the slitting saw on the drill-press, then finish the centre bit that the saw can't reach, with small 'knife' saws I've made for the job. These are made from scraps of saw plate, so are the exact thickness required, & heavily breasted to cut the concave slot most blades require. They cut on the pull stroke, & have no set, so they are slow-going because they don't run as freely as you'd like.
The main thing is to end up with a slot that is straight & not curved, otherwise the blade will adopt a matching curve at the handle end when you tighten the boltrs up - very annoying, & hard to correct, when it happens!
Cheers,IW
