Come to the Dark Side

A friend of mine needed to have an internal door fitted and he is NAHMA (Not A Handy Mans Ar$ehole). He called 4 handymen to the house and none of them showed up. He asked me if I could help him out. I said sure anything for a mate.

I brought my collection of hand tools, which consisted of a stanley chisel and a fairly new Record hand plane amongst other things.

I had to take around 6mm off the width of the door so it would fit in the hole. Not having any power tools available, I had to use the Record Plane. It is a little crappy, out of tune and only marginally sharp. I was planing away and started to enjoy it. I could hear Darth saying 'Come to the Dark Side' with every pass of the plane.

While I think I can be like Luke and resist the call of the Dark Side, I'm thinking that I should get a real plane and see if I've got sufficient back bone to resist the evil call.

I was looking on eBay and saw

Is this a good plane and if it is how much do you think it's worth?

Looks allright for 2 bucks! (current bid). Got a new handle , hard to say whether it's plastic or wood , blade has lots of life , probably a falcon lever iron (they're straight sided not curved) and the 23 on the back suggests it was probably ex technical college.

Cos' those tight white leather pants just aren't a good look.

And why do we need those powered respirators they always wore, we don't kick up fine dust, just fine floaty plane shavings?

If you made it $44 it would be easier to calculate the GST!

Anyway, that would make it the most expensive thing you have to sell by about $42 wouldn't it??
