Default Depth stop for a Carter 54

I picked up a type 2 Carter 54 plough plane a while ago in pretty good condition with all the blades and attachments bar one- the depth stop.

Would someone be willing to accurately measure up one for me so I can make one? The tool is in pretty good condition and has hardly been used, I want to get it fully working before I decide whether or not to keep it.

Did it come with a depth stop?
The Stanley 54, on which it was probably modeled, doesn't have one.
The Stanley 54 was like a 50 but without spurs for cutting across the grain and without a depth stop.

According to Hans Brunner, the Carter was a copy of the Stanley.

I think Chief means this one. You could make it whatever size you wanted. I don't think the length is critical.

As I understand it the Carter 54 was somewhere between the Stanley 50 and 54 because although it has the spurs (Stanley 54 didn't) it doesn't have the beading depth stop (which the Stanley 50 did). You could probably say the Carter version was what Stanley should have made with their 54 as it has the ability to cut trenches as well as grooves.

Anyhoo; here is the front of mine; as you can see the depth stop screw is there but not the stop itself.

NCArcher; would you be able to take a few measurements for me? The post should be 1/4" dia but I'd like to know the length and width of the sole, plus the distance of the post from the toe. You are absolutely right in that the actual size doesn't really matter but I'd like to get as close to original as I can; even if it means copying a Stanley to get a rough approximation of a Stanley copy...

Sorry Chief but that was plucked from the internet. I don't have one.
    but...a rough estimate, based on a 1/4" post, would be 3" x 3/8"
