Digital Measuring Tape
I just bought a couple of the digital measuring tapes at this link:
ThinkGeek :: Digital Measuring Tape
I have had problems in some situations trying to read the tiny graduations on measuring tapes. I then thought that an accurate measuring tape with digital readout would be just the ticket - and I haven't been disappointed.
Apart from metric readout, it also shows imperial measurements with real fractions ( eg 14 11/16 ) as well as using decimal places. And of course you can also read the measurements off the tape. The unit is very accurate indeed and is easy to calibrate after a battery change.
It took about a minute to get used to the slightly different way of using a digital readout but I am much more confident now of my measurements.

Digital Measure.
Hi TP1,
I have something similar, that also records, & has a laser as well. Laser is good for showing Objects on pictures, blackboards, etc.
Where did you purchase your Measure, & at what cost please.
Mine takes 3 small finger nail size batteries.
What does the one you have take.
Mine is approx 8 yrs. old, made by CMJ.
Regards,
issatree.

The battery is CR 2032. This suits me fine as I bought a box of these on Ebay quite cheaply. The cost of each tape in USD is $24.99. I bought 2 and I was charged a further $29 for express postage for both items.
This digital measure will also record the measurement so that you can read it after the tape has been released.

Yes I did. I started looking at that site for gift ideas. You know, novelty items always create a smile or two. I was relieved when I saw the digital tape measure after it arrived because the makers built it as a serious tool, even though a site like "Think Geek" thinks its a a bit geeky.
For my gift idea ( for a friend) I was going to give the other digital tape measure I bought.
