The sight of that thing makes my arms ache! It's a so-called 'One-man' crosscut saw - do you have the handle that clips into the hole in front of the main handle (or in the far end so two people can work it)? The tooth pattern is a bit unusual to me, it looks like a double set of rakers. I'm more used to seing a single pair between the "M" teeth. Maybe this one was intended for softer woods?
By the depth of the gullets, this saw hasn't seen a lot of use - the one my father had was re-gulleted at least once, as I remember, but the teeth were probably half that height when I last saw it.....
Cheers,IW

Those aren't "M" teeth, those are the rakers, the four teeth together are the cutting teeth.
What year is the label screw?
Good pictures HERE.

Excellent source of information on crosscut saws. Shows how to sharpen Lance tooth saws, with pictures and text, and shows the tools as well. Several pages, but worth reading. Was going to post this earlier, but I couldn't remember where I'd seen it!

Disston Saw
Wow, that's a really good link Toby. It's a very well written article. I now know that I had a flat ground, champion tooth one man bucking saw... Had.
I tried to turn it into an alto singing saw as a teenager. What a waste. Mia culpa.
Oh well, at least it wasn't a crescent ground pierced lance tooth two man felling saw, although that would probably have worked better.
Matt...I'll just make the other bits smaller.
