    Default Saw finished

I managed to get a bit more brass rod during the week, & found enough tiime to make some saw bolts - a lot easier now I have my mini metal lathe, but still a tedious job - these took me about 2 hrs to make. Don't think I could make a living at it!
    (pic 1)

After a polish, and a bit of adjustment to the counter-sink holes, the bolts are fitted, & the saw is finished.

Some close-ups of the handle -
    'medallion' side (3)
    and nut side (4).

As I said - I will get the 'medallion' engraved some time. I used it a bit today after installingthe nuts. It has quite a nice fel to it - I think it's going to become a frequent user....

Well done Ianw, great effort great result.
At the risk of getting hate mail I must tell you I have 4 "disston phili"saws 1 was a bit crappy, handle stuffed, rusty. so I made a new handle out of redgum & cut the blade down to a tennon saw. used the original brass bolts, now I have genuine disston tennon saw. all my mates look at it and say they've never seen one before, So we wan't tell them any differant a ?

tip., Stay in the shed, get a dog to talk to, and build a fire to keep warm
she'll come dowm to you soon enough.

    love the saw Bannd....

She-oak, Claw. Off the old farm where I grew up. Makes nice handles, and great firewood. My mum still works her way through several cords of it per year. She needed a new stove last year, & wouldn't be talked into one of those modern 'lectric things. All that nice wood going up in smoke...!

    Cheers,
