You're a few years behind me, Paul, & maybe you're one of the lucky ones like my friend who remains clear-eyed with no hint of cataracts at 88. I was going fine too, up 'til late last year. My optometrist told me at my last routine check (about a year ago) that my lenses were clear, with just a bit of opacity starting in one, but he assured me I should be fine for years yet. However, I noticed around Christmas that things just weren't looking right, & in May, I struggled to pass the sight test for my drivers' licence renewal. That was a big wake-up call so I got myself referred to an opthalmologist quick-smart. When she showed me a pic of my right lens, it was clear why I was having vision problems - the lens certainly wasn't!
Anyway, I'm pretty relaxed about it, the surgery is nothing like the big deal it was 50 years ago, & the lenses they use now are quite impressive, so I'm hoping the world is about to become a whole lot clearer for me....
Cheers,IW
