Default They don't make 'em like they used to

Having to drill several 1mm holes, I grabbed my cordless drill, then the power drill, then tried the drill press - none would get a grip on the tiny 1mm drill bit. In desperation I grabbed the 50+ year old egg beater I had recently restored and, GESS WOT? it did the trick. Just proves they don 't make 'em like they used to !

Just used mine also for a 1mm hole - nothing much to go wrong with them.

It depends on the size/type/brand of the cordless/chuck, and since most egg beater drills use small chucks I would expect them to hold small bits.

As far as DP chucks go, my only keyed chuck cannot hold a 1mm but, all 5 of my (MT2/MT3) keyless DP chucks will hold a 1mm bit.

The smallest bit my 1/2" chuck cordless Makitas will hold is 1.3 mm, but both my Makita right angle cordless and Bosch cordless with 3/8 chucks will easily hold a 1mm bit.
The Makita right angle cordless will even hold a 0.4mm bit - the smallest drill bit I own (SWMBO has smaller ones)

My bet is that this machine will hold drill bits less than 1mm.

Can any one tell me what the machine is designed for?

No, it just proves that chucks have a size range.
