I have a veritas honing guide, which I use all the time. If I had a criticism of it, it is that they use mild steel for the shaft and this rusts. The rest of the jig is aluminium or brass: What were they thinking?
I suppose it would not be an issue with oil stones, but it is a minor disaster with water stones and could be so easily remedied with a stainless steel shaft for the roller.
