Closer. I'm home now and have checked the 2008/09 Veritas cattledog - it was $US699 (and $79 for the Extra Plate/Stantion Set)

    According to the blurb:
The main vise parts are cast and machined from ZA-12, an alloy as strong as cast iron but less brittle, at only 80% of the weight...
Other components are made of steel, brass, and aluminum.

I like the way this guy writes….Makes me wonder how they kept the patterns so accurate in those days??

dan.001 You did excellent. You saved $100 off the RRP (30%) in the usa but that isn't why it was a bargain. Here is what the USA sellers charge for shipping.

FedEx International Priority, 1 - 3 business days, traceable, $294 FedEx International Economy, 4 - 5 business days, traceable, $240 (FedEx shipments are traceable, door to door, by customer)

Now If you wanted to get an original Emmert K1 which is bigger and heavier:

I would build 2 boxes to get it under the weight limit for international shippments. Each box would cost about $250.00 US dollars.
So if you thought they were expensive to start with try doubling it!!

Well a big thank you to all who did not bid & I did not know how much they were when I was bidding so I think I was lucky there .
