$90 and ummmm, EMPTY
Good to know, I find the 45 box to be the most annoying box in my shed.. I'm always reminded of that done to death scene in a hundred movies where actor #1 has to jump up and down on the suit case while actor #2 fights with the zipper.

Good luck! It's certainly a great bench, but have a look at their past sales - many of their items go for thousands, not hundreds. Judging by the nine bids with still 5 days to go, I reckon it'll get over a thousand, even fifteen hundred or more.
That bench top doesn't actually look that thick, does it? By the time you've taken an inch off all over to flatten it, it'll be a bit on the thin side.
But then, it's too beautiful to thump around. I'd mount a lovely stainless steel barbeque in it and put it on the back deck.Cheers, Richard

Benches
Came through Mittagong today and went for a tool drool while stretching my legs and a similar bench was marked down to under $2000 - had been asking near 3000 - a lot of other nice furniture is now being heavily discounted - one deep glass door bookcase with pediment was down from 950 to 475

So at this point you can either bid $190.00 for an empty box or $511.00 for an antique bench. I wonder what junk I have under the house that I can put on ebay.

Just shows to go you ....., I sold a complete #45 in a tin box, including the screwdriver for $180 at the last HTPAA tool sale a few weekends ago...I know the popular policy is to break them up and sell the parts, but I'd rather get it over and done with in one sale, and possibly keep it all together.
Regards,
Peter

Might be my eyesight but the corners don't look dovetailed on that box.

plane
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....m=220306812619
Found this on ebay, just wondering if the price is good and is it worth buying if I am on a tight budget. Because i have already ordered a lot of the stanley plane blades, and a set of chisels, just wondering if this is something that is rarely seen and worth buying?

That is Tony from the tool museum near me. He is a gentleman and I have seen that very plane and it's good.
I particularly liked the repair to the tote, nothing that would add value but certainly adds to the charm of the plane imo.
4 1/2 is a great size for smoothing.. C's tend to attract a higher price with little or no improvement in performance. but hey.. they look cool and 4 1/2c's aren't too common.
Nice plane.. a steal at what it's sitting on now. and I would vouch for the seller.
