That's Tony from the tool museum (now closed sadly) down the road.
Huge price.. but then SW in very nice condition with box.. or maybe somebody just needs one this week. afaik Tony has a fair reputation and is trusted.. I think that makes a difference.
I was watching that auction and balked at how much it had gone to.. but then I always remember what a few hundred dollars buys you in the power tool isle of bunning.. suddenly the beautiful old jointer gauge doesn't look so bad even for that kind of money.
Great tool.. a jointer gauge was one of the "eureka moment" tools for me.. didn't know I needed it until I had it and now I'd never be without one.Best regards, Luban

Oh me too Justifying other peoples spendings is one thing.. matching them at their game is another entirely.

The famous alloy frog that bent at the top so the lateral lever would no longer engage the iron.Especially when students overtightened the screw for the lever cap.
Carried over from the Pope planes when Turner bought them out.
Stanley at least when they bought out Turner only used this liability on their #4 and #5 sizes.
Every time I went into a school or Tech I copped it over this frog whether it was a Stanley or one of it's forefathers.
Carried a pocketfull of lateral and "Y" levers and the rivet/pin to fit them with.
Collectable my ass.

Not exactly an ebay dropping & not at all the sellers error. The box in the back clearly names it a double iron plane. Anyone get it?
1930's? Am I right to doubt that age?
