So he's aware of it, AND doesn't care!
What a dildo....

I just put in my old US post code and the shipping dropped to $6.70. So must be the auto calculator. You'd think he would be willing to look at other shipping options.

I don't know anything about the plane, but the seller can't spell.
.
I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.

Besides being broken it's in good condition????
Looks like a type 14 body with a type 15 frog and no original sw blade.
Why highlight the orange frog if you're trying to say it was made in 1910?
Sounds sus to me.

You are probably right about the age of the parts.
It is sad that the cheek has been broken, because it looks like it was a lovely old plane prior to its accident.
It would still be a good user plane even with the broken cheek. It just doesn't look very attractive and is a little over-priced for what it is.
Still, the wood is good and the plane has all the important bits like adjustable frog screw and large diameter depth adjuster.
Add a better blade and fettle this plane, and I bet it would sing.
Cheers

Am sure I handled that plane the day it was bought by that seller but don't recall it having a broken cheek. Maybe the clean up had something to do with that (was asked what I thought of it, age etc so had a good look at it)

I picked up a nice old stanley drill off eBay and dropped by the seller's place to pick it up. The drill will get cleaned etc at some point (it seems I have a fondness for eggbeater drills, and of course pretty much any other old tool)......
While there, I spied a shelf of nice old planes on the back wall of the garage and then, hmm, what's this? a sackback windsor in the making, sitting on a bench. The good seller and I got to talking for a while, he recognised my story about a shavehorse and a chairmaker, and introduced himself.
Nice to meet you mic-d, plane scraper extraordinaire, and we live about 5 mins apart.
I'm looking forward to meeting up again for a chat and maybe a bit of chairmaking or somehting. It's great to have an eBay purchase turn out so well )

All right - not Epay, but the local second hand tool shop.
Dawn #9 Quick release bench vice. Not made anymore, and a bloody good design.
I ask the price, and add a few bar clamps to the sale. The seller picks up one rusty old F clamp and says "you know there are no returns on any items?"
"No worries mate", said in my best red-neck Qld country boy voice.
Anyway, $80 for the vice. and of course when you do it up, the quick release engages and you can't tighten up the vice.
This is because the butress screw has been lubricated, filled with sawdust and filled up the thread.
Pull it apart, clean it up... good as new.
No returns? Not bloody likely!
Amazing design... 8 parts in total, and the butress screw fits into a brass section... so the brass wears, and then you just replace that bit... no wonder they don't make it any more... one of those 'lifetime' tools that actually last a lifetime.
In the pic the brass bit is in my hand... God, its a great design. Clean that (the wear part) and the screw... good as new.
$80... $80... $80... can you tell that I'm happy?
Dawn #9 = 9" wide jaw, 4" deep - and about 15kg weight. wonderful.

I should tell Chris Schwarz about this one
There's a Roubo style bench on ebay:
French vintage cabinet maker workbench console - eBay Other Living Room Items, Living Room, General Use, Furniture, Home. (end time 23-Jun-10 09:26:14 AEST)
Lot of money. Must be to pay for the extra gloss they've put on it.
Cheerio,
Virg.
