I picked up a Berg firmer the other day for a reasonable price, and it is quite a solid bit of steel. Hardly ever see them though. I picked up a Berg 6mm at a church sale years ago for $2. It had been used as a paint tin opener, but came up a treat with a bit of TLC. I also have quite a few Titans because I don't like to pay the going price for Bergs, and I think the Titans hold a very nice edge, but the Bergs I have (not many unfortunately) seem to keep the best edge to my mind.

And I also have a 1/2 Sandvik with a black plastic handle. Don't even know where I got it from, but it holds a very nice edge. Quite a bit more modern than the Bergs and Titans that I have, but the steel is good. One day I'll put a wooden handle on it...

Hello nice forum. I live in Sweden so I got some Berg chisels. Here are 3 different mortise chisels with 3 different logotypes. I think the one with the moth and antler handle is the oldest one but I don't know. I would be glad if someone could tell me something about when they where made and the steele etc. The one in the middle is 2 cm wide.

It's interesting to read the discussion about Bergs and Bahcos. I have a few of both and I can't really discern a difference in their cutting ability. I wonder how Fur's Bergs perform.

If there is any interest, I have a copy of Bahco's 1966 tool catalogue in which all those mysterious numbers are explained and I am prepared to photograph the pertinent pages and post them in this forum.
