Extended fence on T&G woodie.
Nothing overly exciting I suppose. A little discovery, but makes all the difference.
But I recently added a fence to an old woodie tongue cutting plane. In the picture its second from the right.
See the little rebated fence add on. Just screwed on.
The point is, it forms a deeper fence than the fences of the others surrounding it....
Well, its made it easier to use. Can easily keep the plane in the vertical more. Meaning you can fall asleep and the tongue will still cut squarely, unlike the smaller fences with the others.
Since the cuts are so stable, found I could rapidly make T&G's for edge gluing, in combination with a plough cutting 44. Loose a bit of width to your glueup of course, but the joints are self aligning, making the glueup a breeze. Something to consider (or not )

Good ol' Aussie ingenuity at the fore again!
So long as it works it is a good thing. Nice.

Jake.
Electric router, slot cutter, loose tounge, done.
I did this the first time recently, I won't join panels any other way ever again. The environment here tears hardwood panels apart in short order, so eliminating movement in one direction, plus adding glue area makes a huge difference.
I can even use regular wood glue again.
