Default falcon plane problem - thread sizes

Heres one for the "old plane guys"
Almost finished doing up this old Pope Falcon #5 but stuck on the last bit. On attempting to assemble the cleaned up parts I ran into a brick wall.

That screw just wont run back into that thread.
    Nuther pick a bit closer

As you can see I cleaned it up pretty nice and was just screwing it all back together and ran into this. Obviously there is some rubbish in the plane irron stopping it from pulling in. The screw is very clean and undamaged looking as does the hole from wjhat I can see of it. I need to tap it out but am worried I am going to screw up the whole job. Its a 1/4" but a fine thread which I am guessing is BSF But I don't know for sure.

Yes, it is from this plane, as it came out of the jar all the bits went into when i pulled it apart a couple of days ago.

I been fiddling around for over an up in the shed swearing and cursing trying to get it to go to no avail so I guess all I can do is try and tap it out.

Hoping for a bit of guidance here as I dont want to ruin this nice old plane.

Sure there's not another screw in the jar? One that has a groove machined in it to capture the fork on the frog.

Never mind, you can still get the plane working again without it.
