File Storage Wallet?
Hi Folks,
A while back I inherited a sizeable collection of tools which I've slowly been sorting through.
Part of the collection includes files and rasps (around 30) which are currently stored in a hessian bag - not the best I know! I'd like to store them properly (in a toolbox hopefully). I remember seeing a file/rasp "wallet" somewhere that could be rolled up. Anyone know of anything like this? I've tried searching but of course I get every type of "file", "metal cabinet", etc. other than what I'm after.
Cheers,
Chris

Perhaps googling "tool roll" might put you on the right track?
I have several custom leather rolls, which can be a bit exxy, but I've seen sites advertising custom canvas rolls quite cheaply. (The reason I suggest you look at custom ones is 'cos most 'general' rolls are only 7" or 8" high while most files are longer than that. Esp. if handled.)

additional options
3D Knitted Chisel Roll - Lee Valley Tools
Carving Tool Roll - Lee Valley Tools -- might be a bit short one end
Canvas Chisel and Gouge Rolls - Lee Valley Tools
Leather Tool Rolls - Lee Valley Tools
should give you ideas.
A canvass or linen roll is pretty easy to make -- especially if you have access to a sewing machineregards from Alberta, Canada

I can really recommend Aussie made MAKA's Leather tool (https://maka.com.au) rolls - I had mine custom made by Maka to suit these Floats I made a few years back
His suede rolls cost about $60 - check out his knife rolls - make sure you are sitting down when you see the prices.

I also recommend his aprons

Bob
Maka's gear looks superb.

Try Skew's suggestion: I googled "tool rolls" and it brought up 926 listings, but I only looked at the first half dozen ! Be sure to check whether a file will fit as Skew says. Ian's suggestion of making up from heavy cloth or canvas is good if you, friend or partner are handy with the sewing machine. Somewhere I have one SWMBO made for me:

Here's an axe cover I made for our camping axe many years ago. Made from an old boot, hand stitched along the bottom edge with the handy "Awl for all". Rough piece of work, I know, but still holding together after innumerable camping trips all over Aus'.
Cheers,
Geoff.
