    Default Forrester Plane

I bought a Forrester scraper plane body - beech, coffin shaped, 7" long - today at a market for $5. I got a cast steel blade to fit at the same market for $2. I'm pretty pleased

Now cleaned and the blade sharpened it works beautifully on curly maple (I want it to thickness violin ribs). I believe it is by Wm Forrester of Glasgow. Can't google anything else. Does the brain trust know anything more. I rather like to know the history of the tools I use.

    Thanks in advance.

    Tim

No mention in Salaman's Dictionary of WW Tools Tim. It only mentions and pictures a Stanley metal body.

Sounds like a nice tool. Post some pics?
    Cheers, Ern

    Tim,
No mention of Wm Forrester in Goodman's - British Planemakers from 1700.
