I came across this page looking for a french chisel manufacturer "somborn"
Meubles Miniatures: Mes vieux outils
and ... while the logo I was looking at was different ... I thought it was neat he was showing a complete and an incomplete example of the logo.
(First 2 pics)
This is obviously some historical info on various makers:
Meubles Miniatures: Un peu d'histoire.......
The site is for miniatures as far as I can follow it ... some great furniture pics ... not sure of the scale either!
If these are miniatures then I am taking my bat and ball and going home.

Being French, maybe it's easier for me to understand what's in the website.
They say that all the furnitures shown on the website are at the scale of 1/4 of the real one (1/4 for the sizes means 1/64 for the volumes...)
For example, in the picture n°6 you are showing, the leg of the (fold) table is hold by a clothespin that is roughly 2" long.
Just ask if I can help with further translations.

This site is also interesting for description of tool marks. It's not rare to find here French very good quality chisels and plane iron.
Thank you for sharing it.

I've not seen that brand before... which means I have something else to keep an eye out for
I have a good collection of Peugot, Peugot Frère Aînés, Coulaux, Goldenberg and my absolute favourite, 19th C Aux Mines de Suede. They range from great to brilliant.
As an aside here is a link to a discussion on a French forum that has lots of great pictures of some of the old local wares (cartwrights tools et al.)
OUTILS ANCIENS - ART POPULAIRE :: Les bouvets de carrossier...
Cheers
Berlin...I'll just make the other bits smaller.

I have a few french mortice chisels ... that is why I was searching for Somborn and came across the first page.
The miniatures are all handmade I guess ... love the pictures ... and the styles are a step different in some respects from what you see in UK/US/Aust homes and magazines.
Thank you guys very much for the info. What a great forum this is.
Cheers,
Paul McGee
