    Default My new best friends

    G'day all,

I've just learnt something you lot have probably known about for years - hand scrapers - what fantastic tools they are.

I'm making my first jewelry box and decided to give my new hand scrapers a go...... beautiful. Smooth finish, can get right into the corners, can take minute amounts of wood off, and not as messy as sanding.

What a difference it makes to have the right tools

    Kev

What brand are they Kev? Some of us novices need recommendations.

I bought these, The Veritas Super Hard Scraper Set for $28 (top left).

    Money well spent I think.

Hi Kev, yes they are very handy especially on cranky wood where the fibres are allover the place, I made mine from an old crosscut hand saw blade.cut to shape with angle grinder.
    Cheers Tony.

Here's my home made scraper - I use it quite a bit. I am considering something about 3/4 of that size.

    Cheers

Tony, I never even thought about making my own. I'll keep that in mind too.
