Finally finished the bluing of all the home made steel parts.
FInished.jpg
O are the parts from the original 78 that my uncle left me in 1967.
B is the resurrected one from the bits in the plane parts box.
B1 - B4 are he home made parts.
Close up of the blued screws.
Only the most right hand has proper knurling.
The left hand side ones were (accidentally) done with different knurling tool.

This is the set my friend gets for his dad's 78

I finally made a replacement lever cap screw from a dodgy bit of 16mm steel rod for the 78 I have been reconstructing out of "parts in a box"
9/32" 19 TPI, no die for this so cut the thread on the lathe.
First time I've used the Hercus to cut a thread and the last time I cut a thread would be 10+ years ago on the Nuttall at work.
I don't have a thread chaser for the Hercus so had to reverse the bit back and forth to keep the thread regsitration.
I wouldn't call it my best thread but it works and holds OK.

Here it is alongside the screw from my other rebate plane.

Note my knurling is not as crisp as Anorak Bob's.
