Default FWW - Handplane Blade Angles: Lyn J. Mangiameli

Volume #186 (Sep/Oct 2006) of Fine woodworking has an excellent article by Lyn Mangiameli. If you have been looking for a good article describing the purposes of different angles then this is it. Personally, I'm pleased to see FWW go back to a 'specialised' article, good stuff!

Here is a link to a few of Lyn's articles. In particular, read the one on high angle planes. Lyn was one of the first to actually research this area. Good bloke.

    Regards from Perth

A good bloke but knowledgeable too. I've read his discussions every time I get the chance and always look forward to the next.

(Here's hoping they change the spelling of his name on the webpage . )

Lyn's article was hacked apart by FWW's editor--you should read the entire article. Lyn may eventually have Roger Nixon's Traditional Tools site that Derek's link point to, have the full article.

Especially in its fuller state, it is a very good article.

    Take care, Mike
