Garage Sale Bargains???
Over the last few weeks i have been slowly building up my tool collection, and have found these items at garage sales,
2 Disston saws $1.00 each, no splits in the handles, blades not warped, still
cut but could do with a resharpen.
Elu cross cut mitre saw, $20.00 cuts 210mm across and 5omm deep(maybe a little more), works perfect, cuts very well, dont know how old it is.
GMF Tradesman grinder 150mm $20.00 works great.
Silex No 77 Vice $25.00, has lots of dents and nicks,but easy to clean up, and
it wont fit the bench i have, so will need to modify or make up a new bench.
Record No4 Hand Plane $20.00, works ok,needs a resharpen, handles not broken.
And various size hand chisels from between $2.00 - to $5.00 ,all need
resharpening.
Have i got a good deal on these or not????
The Disston saws i dont think i have a real need for them, maybe i can sell
them on ebay???

Sounds like a great deal to me, especially the saws. Msot of the garage sales around here have nothing more than an eggbeater drill or a pruning saw.
Theres a place over here in Guildford which takes old saws and planes and makes them into desk ornaments and clocks.
They've got an old bedrock plane, made up as a bloody business card holder on sale for $50 bucks. On fortunately it's not recoverable
