    Default Gramercy Saw vice

Some of the saw making fraternity may be interested in a new saw vice being produced by Gramercy -http://www.toolsforworkingwood.com/Merchant/merchant.mvc?Screen=BIGP&description=The+Gramercy+Tools+14%22+Saw+Vise&fullimagepath=/prodimg/gt/big/GT-SAWV_big.gif

The vice is currently offered at US$98.95 BUT! the postage is around $80 !!

I have exchanged some emails with Gramercy who have said they may be able to reduce the postage for a bulk order and if an order was placed now ( which I think means before the end of the month ) they would lock in the current offer which would be subject to our acceptance of the freight rate once this is known.

If anyone interested in participating in a bulk order can you let me know & I will see if this is worth pursuing further.

    Regards

Thank you for the heads-up and the offer to co-ordinate.
    I am interested.
I wonder what the vice weighs and the costs of post within Australia.
Would we save more than the internal Oz postage?
If not then we would be better off ordering direct.
    Appreciate the notice
    Thanks

I think that it is worthwhile speaking with Michael Connor. He usually sells Gramercy tools (I bought my Gramercy holddowns from him).

Gramercy are waiting on their first delivery, and there appears to be some discrepancy re the weight of the vices and that is why they can not give a firm delivery price yet. It will have to be a substantial reduction and significantly different from the individual order costs to make this worthwhile.

I will contact Michael Connor but I suspect he may not have any more info.

there appears to be a dearth of info at present, Gramercy are waiting on their first delivery before they confirm pricing.
I have exchanged emails with Michael Connor who will also contact Gramercy for info & we can then have a discussion re the possibility of an order, via Michael or other means. Based on the response here so far, there appears to be very little interest in a bulk buy.

    Regards

    Hi folks,
I'd be up for being part of a bulk buy if it can be arranged.

That is a beautiful piece of work. It'd be nice to have a review before committing, but I reckon now's the time to buy from the US, and a bulk buy has to be a bonus, so I'm in too.

    Christmas is coming early!

    Default Make your own

If you can make a saw you can easily make a saw vice. I made mine from scraps of Jarrah, and blue gum and old taps.

Fuyll thread here. BTW I fixed the small bit of sloppiness by lining the jaws with rawhide leather. It works a real treat now.

Flag me as interested as well pending details.
Keep in mind the import tax threshold.
    Love the look.
