Mine does look like the top one in that ebay ad.
Just thinner at the tip.
I'll try and fix the handle first and see how I go.
If it doesn't work I can always make a new one.
Its 21 3/4 inches long and is just under 1/2 inch at the end. 9TPI
And The holes totally match the saw and the holes in the saw are all in the correct plave and sizes are all the same, so doesn't look like a mix and match.

I started on the warranted superior one tonight.
What I though was tape around the handle is actually a tapered dovetail strip.
Its a 1/8 inch piece that slides in from the top of the handle with a bevel on the sides to hold it in.
It was glued but one comes out.
I put glue on the cracks and then used the air compressor to blow it gently down into the cracks (worked better than trying to pry apart).
Where do I buy new screws and bolts from. I checked Coventry fasteners and they don't have them.
I'm going to need half a dozen all up.
I did find this group but don't want 100.

With a bolt and nut costing US$4.50 from Wenzloff and old ones generally retailing for around A$4 perhaps a pack of 100 wouldn't take long to pay for itself especially if you are restoring a few saws. If you are after smaller quantities why not check a stationers? I doubt Officeworks would have them but perhaps a mob that deals with the legal industry or records and archives? Ask you local council library or records department. I used to work in records and have memories of those fasteners. Never thought of using them as saw nuts. What an inspired idea. I'll have to pester my council now.
Cheers,
Virg.

I did ring that link just above and they said they sometimes have open broken packs they can sell from. Unfortunately the 25mm brass ones are not broken, Only an aluminum pack.
I only want to replace the ones where they have been lost or were replaced in the past with bolt and nut.
So a dozen will last a while.
I will see what I can find at a library as I think they use then to bind 12 issues of a magazine.
Not sure they'll give them to me but I'll see.

Update,
Still can't get those 3 nuts off and I drilled a 1/16 hole down the slot and have sprayed them 3 times.
Did 2 more saws (pictures to come in the morning).
I also found someone that has brass Chicago screws.
The paper place in Mount Waverley. Right near the corner of blackburn and high st, Wedding Invitations Melbourne and DIY Wedding Stationery and Specialty Paper, Card & Envelope products by The Paper Place, Melbourne, Australia..
I went with 20mm ones but they are just a bit long.
So I put a nice new clean washer on the nut side, Now looks like a medallion on each one.
I also found my tooth-setter a Somax No 250, So I'll need to read up and see how to set and use it.
I think I tried 20 years ago and set the thing to the same point as the teeth at the very heal of the saw. I then used it in the middle and broke 3 teeth in a row. Don't want to do that again.

They all spin, I used the 2 boards method with the hole to clamp into vise at bottom and then a F clamp on top to jam the saw handle between the board.
I have a 100Watt soldering iron so might try that as well in the morning.
I even gave then a reasonable tap with a small hammer to see if that would help.

Update:
Now that the roadster is finished I can get back to the saw retore.
Some also gave me 3 extras today.
One is an aussie kangaroo one.
One is another of those skinny tipped disstons that some thought was a hybrid.
and the third one is unnamed.
TobyC (what can you tell me about the aussie one....)

How dare they steal out logo, beastly peoples...
But stay tuned, lots of saws to clean up and fix.
And I still can't get those screws of that other saw, drilled didn't help.
Cutting a slot on other side didn't work and the 2 boards in the vice didn't work.
Holding a 100 watt soldering iron against the nuts didn't help.
Not sure what to try next.
