    Default Hand saw sharpening recommendation

Following this thread - https://www.woodworkforums.com/f152/s...ervice-136160/ I have recently had 2 backsaws and 2 panel saws hand sharpened by Travis Edwards (forum user name).

Travis has done a great job on all 4 saws including straightening the smaller backsaw's blade. He has also been very patient with all my questions and I lost count of the number of emails back and forth prior to posting the saws. The advice alone was worthy of his fee (which I might add was incredibly reasonable).

    Cheers,

    Sam

PS - I posted this here rather than the product review forum as I felt it was most relevant to Darksiders

    Default Thanks Andrew/sam

Thankyou for your kind words, as I said previously I offer this as a service for those who appreciate good handtools not to make dollars out of it and often if I calculated my hours spent and cost of tooling I would barely break even. I appreciate good tools and keeping them in good working condition, I am fully qualified as a sawdoctor /toolmaker (although I am no longer working in that industry) and do what I do due to the reasons aforementioned. I am glad you enjoy your new saws and hope that they bring you much satisfaction in your endeavours with them. I am sure that as you will use them you will understand how "feel" will tell you when they need to be sharpened again, and when they do I am more than willing to do the job again for you and anyone else who wishes to understand how a properly sharpened saw works so much better than one of the throwaway saws they can buy from their local hardware store.
I am told that sharpening handsaws is a dying art.... this must mean I am an artisan.

Get your handsaws sharpened properly to the highest possible standard, the only way they should be done, BY HAND, BY ME!!! I only accept perfection in any saw I sharpen.
