Hand Saw Storage
Hi All,
Has anyone got some good ideas for space-efficient storage of handsaws? I am thinking of some form of on-edge wall hanging so that 10+ saws can be accomodated in a reasonable space? Ant pictures of your solutions?
BR,
Fraser

Space efficient storage of saws, hmm
The term you are probably looking for in search terminology is "saw till"
Most of the ones I have seen are more display than compact units. I slide mine behind some parts cabinets so they only show the handles.

I had the same problem, until I saw Derek Cohen's Saw Till thread. I made a very crude imitation in about 15 mins from 2 lengths of pine stud screwed to a cupboard. I'm planning a smarter version, now that my saws are stored out of the way. I'll take a photo tomorrow.
Cheers, Richard

With apologies to Derek for b&st&rdising his design, here's a photo of the saw till I created in 15 mins, including a close up to show you the quality of the workmanship.
I was reluctant to show this in public, but I figured it might force me to actually get a decent version put together. I really want to make the box my first attempt at dovetails, so it'll take me a while to work out what I'm doing.Cheers, Richard

It certainly does the job - so well that, despite the looks, I do enjoy using it!

My saw till - made quickly out of cheap material I had lying around. I still have saws lying around everywhere but this contains most of them.

Steve,
I think you may need to check into a clinic to get treatment for your addiction

I was making a saw caddy when this post started and, unusually for me, I waited until I finished it ...today!
I bought a few pieces of cedar from the Ward dynasty including a narrow flitch and I used it to make the sides. The shape was defined by following the grain on the flitch. The cross battens are removable and can be recut or replaced to change the layout of the saws.
I guess I'd better get some more saws!
Fletty
PS, echidna, the handles still look beautiful

Beautiful work! I think mine will be more functional than creative.

They all look good to me.
Yours is pretty Fletty. Well done to all. My little collection of saws is so small to many of you guys here on the forum.
All the best
Kevin
