Trent has truly outdone himself with these Kev. Knowing how helplessly pleased I was to receive, and now use my own meager set (by which I mean small set ) I can imagine the smile hasn't left your face yet!

Trent mentioned to me that he wasn't completely happy with the case, but wouldn't expand on it. I looked it over in some detail and I can't fault it at all. He says he's not much of a wood worker, but hey, he's obviously put the same level of thought and craftsmanship into the case as his tools. It looks truly amazing! In fact, to be honest I wouldn't even use the case in my workshop. Instead I'd make a tool chest to sit under it, giving this collection pride of place on top.

Trent has done an amazing job with this set. He does with every tool he makes. The attention to detail is wonderful as is the amount of research gone into getting the steel heat treated the way he wants.
Yes it took a while to get them but....I'm over the moon.

The box was not expected and Trent has made a work of art. I understand why he wants to do a few things to it or in another way. But only he and I will know a few of the tricks to this box. That is until you pop over and have a look for yourself Kman.
The number of tools I ordered was/is over the top. I decided to go all out and do not regret it at all.

I'll take some pics down the track and give more details of both materials the chisels.

    Take care
    Kevin

I hope that Trent gets these professionally photographed while still unused!

Kev's pretty handy with the old SLR, I'm sure we won't be waiting long

I'm pretty confident these will be on a poster, just like Terry's!

Never a better truism spoke, but I'm sure that Trent of Harold & Saxons would want to leave no doubt on the integrity of such a fine made product and that it could be tested to the extremes demanded of it within the sphere of use.

I'm glad that I have had the opportunity to meet the man at the Melbourne TWW show and see first hand the quality such as is employed in the chisel set that he had on display and awaiting its pick up by kevjed(lucky bugger).

I saw a chisel being used that left little doubt in thought that it was not of a high standard its use to clean up a dado with ease looked as if it was merely an extension of the user.

My set is due soon and with Tiger Myrtle handles that he has opted to change to at no extra charge which I am entirely pleased with.

I cannot endorse enough the precision and equality of such a fine made chisel such as Trent produces which is indicative of a quality tool maker that these days seem much in short supply.

One might say indeed that these are words of high praise but to have hands on the product with a good balance and a keen edge it certainly leaves me in no mind as to where I'm prepared to part with the $$$$$.

    Cheers

    Hi Kevin

You have collected together some of the absolute best, and mouth-watering tools imaginable. I absolutely, irretrievably, inconsolably, and passionately hate you!

Do you know what has happened to Trent? He has certainly had ups-and-downs over the years. In spite of his disorganisation and poor follow through with delivery (the chisels I ordered back in 2008, when this thread began, were never delivered), we accepted his ill-health because he was/is such am amazing toolmaker. Is he alive, working or not ...

    Regards from Perth

I don't have recent information, but I received my set of H & S chisels (via the group buy) in Dec 2017 and you can see details of that set and Trent in this thread

Best Xmas Pressy You Ever Had?

I had to go looking for that thread and when I found it there were no pix. So I searched my archives for them, without success, and returned to the thread where the pix were sitting there in all their glory: They had merely been slow loading.Just mentioning in case it is a Forum issue and not local. (Web in general is very slow today.)

His website is still there but does not seem to have changed much.

Harold & Saxon – Chisel & Tool Co. Australia

I visited Trent in Brisbane just prior to taking possession of that set and again about a year later. Trent was in the process of setting up his new workshop with grand old machines. He was at that time undertaking other work to pay bills and as a means of financing his return to the manufacturing aspects.

So it would be more than eighteen months since I have had contact with him. At that time he was in good spirits, his health was well on the way to fully mended and it looked like the H & S brand would continue.

I have just looked at his web-site and at the bottom it shows that it was last updated in 2013.

Thanks for pointing that out. I hadn't noticed any updates one way or the other, but I did note the site looked "original," so in that regard I would not place too much store in it. In fact I am almost certain some of those products have not been available for years (the contractors' chisels are an example). I had merely intended that the website was still there. Nothing more should be read into that.

My recommendation for anybody wishing to purchase would be to make positive contact with Trent.

I had a conversation with Fletty somewhere in the last two years about Trent and he had the most up to date information I had heard.

Today I received some of the Chisels I ordered a good few years ago. Trents work still impresses me. I have always hoped that H&S would make a come back and again be producing his fantastic products. Give it some time folks ... it may just happen.

Nice ones. I’ve been speaking with him over the past few days and he is packing up to move down south. He’ll be working with Terry at HNT Gordon and will be doing chisels on the side for the time being.

Very Nice kevjed beautifully made which will more than compliment your other H&S chisels. I am more than happy with my 2 sets of chisels from Trent ,there's a certain type of person who is of the highest calibre with his Craft,in my view Trent would be hard to better.
