My new Harold and Saxon Tools
I have just picked these up yesterday from Trent's factory/workshop.
The handles are Tiger Myrtle, brass ferule and the blades are cryogenically treated M2 high speed steel.
I thought I would share a few photo's before I start using/abusing them this afternoon!
I also received a calf hide strop which I can use to quickly resharpen the chisels.
The mallet is made from Crow's Ash, with Tiger Myrtle and a very hard, hardwood for the striking face. I will have to check with Trent to confirm which hardwood this is.
I have also ordered a 6 piece set of heavy duty socket firmer chisels including a heavy duty mortising mallet.
Trent has informed me that I will be receiving the last set as he will no longer be producing this style of chisel.
He will be making similar chisels, but not exactly the same.
Anyway, enjoy the tool !
Regards, Justin.

Very nice.

Justin, the wait pales into insignificance when you hold them in your hands and look at the workmanship.
Enjoy them, I've had mine two weeks and still feel something special every time I pick them up.

Nice tools, great pictures. IMHO your pics do much more justice to the quality of the tools than the pics on the H&S site. I was thinking of buying the hammer on their site, but it looked a bit flat sided on the handle (a bit uncomfotable), which put me off , but seeing your pics I see what a great piece of work it is, thanks.
Man can wait long time with open mouth for roast duck to fly in!!

I bought the same set as yours. See here for my post.
I haven't had sufficient shed time to need to sharpen yet.Kev

hi kev, that fiddleback blackwood looks amazing! i am very jealous mate. did you supply the timber yourself or was this a timber that trent has on offer?

Trent told me he had some nice fiddle back so I didn't bother looking.
I asked for the fiddle back blackwood to match tools I have brought from Chris Vesper. I'm not sure that I had any that was better figured than that supplied by Trent and certainly would have been scratching to find any for that size blank as most of my figured blackwood is in inch boards.Last edited by KevM; 16th January 2010 at 11:16 AM.
