    Default Harold Saxon VS Mallet

Some photos pinched from the net where a Harold saxon mortice chisel killed a new Pfeil mallet with chips flying off it at with each blow the Blue spruce seems to survive.

Thank you very much for the kind words. The two mallets were used as close to even as I could make it and yes that is all from this one sessions with the Pfeil. I had such a blast with chips literally blasting out all over the place. I am still finding them all over. Ron, I have the heavy duty firmers that are socket but the two mortise chisels I used were fantastic and I had zero issues with

    World's Most Venomous Snakes

Which snake species is the most venomous depends on the measure used. The average or the maximum venom yield from milking could be suggested, but these measures can be criticised as not reflecting the impact of a real bite. The measure generally acknowledged as best reflecting how dangerous a snake's venom is is that of LD50. The lower this number, the less venom is required to cause death. By that measure, the most venomous snake in the world is Australia's inland taipan (Oxyuranus microlepidotus). The table below gives the top 25 species in order, their LD50, and their distribution.
    Snake Species LD50* Distribution
    1. Inland taipan 0.025 Australia
    2. Eastern brown snake 0.053 Australia
    3. Coastal taipan 0.099 Australia

You've forgotten the African snakes. The Gaboon Viper comes in at #5 amongst the top 6 (the other 5 being Australian) They are the ones who's venom acts on both the blood and the nervous system all others reckon one is good enough.

I don't quite know why you'd destroy a good carving mallet pounding out a mortice. That's not a problem with the mallet just the wrong horse for the wrong course. You'd pulverise the elm handles of Pfeil's chisels if you tried to make them chop a mortice with a spotted gum mallet too...
...I'll just make the other bits smaller.

Maybe Pfeil mallets are quite cheaply available.
