    Default I'm not hooked!

But what an interesting diversion from the main game.

A new handle for this one from Coachwood.

Here are the halves of the old handle that needed replacing.

Plenty of mistakes, but its alright for a first effort. I particularly liked the way that the ornamentation and function complement each other, not something that I had taken notice of before.
The handle has a quick coat of shellac so I could catch the last of the sun. I'll do a little more sanding tomorrow and a final coat of shellac.

    That's a great 1st attempt.

The shaping work you completed on the handle looks to be of a high standard.

The only disappointment is the type of fastener's you chose to use to secure the handle to the saw plate assembly.

Good looking saw Burraboy, but you are hooked . Agree with Stewie on the saw nuts. Not up to the quality of the handle.

    "I'm not hooked"

Meh, we all said that once.

Bushmiller has actually said it so many times that it's a case of when "no" means definitely "yes".

No, you are right, but they were on hand, and they did fit the holes in the blade. Making some new ones in brass might be a job for another slack day. But then.... maybe the handle would be too good for the blade and the knocked-about back, so then I'd have to replace them too. I'd be hooked then!

Great job on the handle. I am not going to comment on the nuts.

Very nice. But bad luck about the hook in your mouth. I made a tote for a plane once and now I have a cupboard full waiting treatment.

    Nice job.
A nice wood handle not only looks better but feels better when working. Not just saws but other old plastic handled tools can do with a makeover.

I think I won my bet.

And an excellent job for your first handle...

    Cheers,
