I'm envious Shedhand... but good to know these things are going to a good home. So many collections go to dealers for a song...

It's nice to see stuff being handed down like that, particularly while he is still alive? (I hope I got that right) Maybe you could whip him up something - walking cane? etc

he's still shuffling along, just. Finds a new disease everyday. Drs love hime. Only 73 but looks and sound 93. Got his marbles though and has an opinion on everything. He won't live long enough for a cane methinks.

Shedhand, between you and Major, with your recent acquisitions you've effectively increased purchase price of any available plane/s that might still be in the market.

With the shortfall created how can we mere mortals hope to retain some semblence of woodworkers dignity never knowing if that plane we want is ever going to be available!

Good luck to you guy's for your recent good fortune in adding seriously valuable tools to your workshops.I sincerely hope you have good times with them.

    take care,Cheers

    Very nice, Major!

You got that in the Hans Brunner auction, eh? I picked up a #3, a #4½, a #5½, and a #8. Not quite so intrinsically valuable as your #2 but they will fill gaps in the set for me.

Actually, I've been looking for a big jointer for a while - either a #7 or #8. I bid on the other three as one lot because of the #3 and the #5½. I've already got a really good #4½ so I might clean up the new one and sell it. We'll see.

    Bloody excellent stuff Col!!

I waiting on an #8C to turn up from the US. Already arrived a #3C which is awaiting a clean up. I'm in the middle of doing the #10½ that was given to me recently. It's cleaned up a treat

    Very very nice Major.

I have a No 2 and despite many people saying they can't fit their fingers around the tote (therefore it is useless) I use mine quite a bit on small jobs. You can hold it without wrapping your fingers around the tote.

    Nice one Sheddie,
    Nice one Major.

I think the Major is now missing a No.1....
better do the ring around to the other rellies Sheddie - with the way you are doing there will be someone who will say "A No.1 Stanley, never liked them, don't know why I bought three...."
