jointing plane
I have access to a millers falls jointing plane, equivalent to a stanley No. 8 for 85 dollars. The iron seems to be mostly there and although dirty, is in good condition.
My question: Is this a good price?
Your advice is very much appreciated.

Millers Falls number 24's are pretty rare in Australia.
They are very well made and have the best features of the Stanley lineup
- excellent machining and quality control
- solid faced frog
- lateral adjuster
- large depth adjuster
- frog advancement screw
- three way lever cap - Millers Falls specialty
At that price provided there are no problems with it you should grab it before someone else does - it is a bargain..... some old things are lovely

Thank you for the quick response, I nearly paid for it on the spot, but I needed to do the research so as not to be caught.
It looked straight and the tote and knob weren't broken. Hopefully it will still be there tomorow. The inlaws are going to see.

Yep, I had the MF equiv to a No 7 and it was far better than a Stanley. Only traded it to go to a Lie Nielsen. $85 sounds great.

Well it seems that I am the proud owner of a millers falls jointing plane the only problem is I won't have it in my hot little hands until the end of the month. Oh well, they say good things come to those who wait
