Pete, if you weren't a Forumite & above suspicion, I might think you faked that one. The single clamp is ok, but even the squeeze-out is perfectly even for the full length of both joins! Don't think I've ever managed such a perfect demonstration in my life. I guess I can make the excuse that it's harder with hide glue because you have to work like hell to get the surfaces coated & togther in milli-seconds, so my glue application isn't quite as neat as yours....

I try to achieve that sort of glue squeeze out not that I have control over being able to do it or not, but it is a good indication of a joint that has come together nicely, I use pva so it does give a little more time but still I set everything up as much as possible, dry run, then glue on and together as quick as possible, these boards are ~300mm wide so to get that squeeze out right to the ends is easier to achieve than with narrower boards where I might be more inclined to use more clamps even with sprung boards.
