Default Kobalt 2" blades for hand plane

I like these blades and I have a few of them. They are less than $5 each. I use them in my #4 or 5 to clean up recycle timber before I put them through a thicknesser. They actually are not too bad in holding an edge either.

Almost 'disposable' at that price! You can strike it lucky with cheap blades, at times. A long time ago, I picked up an early Indian-made #4 for a couple of $$s. The plane was utterly useless, but it had a nice thick blade which took & held a very good edge. Still got the blade, but the plane went to landfill many years ago...

    Cheers,
