Lie-Nielsen Toolworks, Australia
A very good woodworking mate of mine bought a LN62 at the beginning of the year from Carbatec in Brissy. He paid $481.00 for it. I used it once on some very curly narrow leaf red iron bark. What a dream! No tear out, whisper thin shavings and all of this right out of the box (well almost, just a light honning of the blade)!!!!
I did a search early last week and found that the Woodworks in Sydney had the LN62 for around the same price which included freight, so I ordered one.
The Woodworks emailed me today to say that they can't fill my order and have passed it onto the new distributer, Lie-Nielsen Toolworks, Australia.
This mob emailed me late today. I have ordered the plane off them. I hope I'm getting a good deal? $369.00 + $14.00 postage for the LN62.
Here is their contact details.

Oh, you get the drift. LN's are magnificent tools.
Cheers!

I talked to these gentlemen at the Sydney WWW show and they had a good mix of knowledge and passion about LN tools. I boughtthe LN95L bronze plane and the set of 5 LN chisels in the leather roll .... both of which were cheaper than I was expecting to pay from overseas. As said earlier, LN tools are simply beautiful.
BTW, are any dark siders still awake? I bought the 'left handed' LN95 even though I'm right handed. It seemed more natural to be holding the plane against the far side of the workpiece and keeping the pressure towards me, any thoughts?

Oh no....LN are in Aldgate. Thats a 5 minute walk from my house. SWMBO is bugging me to start doing daily walks....looks like Ill have to include Aldgate on the route! Only problem will be explaining to SWMBO why it takes me 3 hours to walk 4kms and I always come back carrying bags of tools.

As Steve said they are nice tools.
Remember though that to do a good planing job you need a sharp blade, skilled woodworker and a good plane probably in that order.
If you get a Lie Nielsen you'll have the good plane and as they are so nice to use you will want to use it a lot so your skill level will improve. Reading how to set the planes and honing your sharpening skills will result in a good job.
Happy travelling.- Wood Borer

I ordered a number 5 1/2 last week from SA well, But unlucky for me its on back order..just have to wait and see.
Kiwi i used to have a company around the corner less than 5 minutes walk at one time who carried Elu equipment. If you want my advise.....move now before its to late. The level of debt that can come about from the evil people in those shops is just awful. I found after going to that shop i could just about justify any purchase i likes...lol.

The only grumble is that the Australian website is still "Coming Soon". I was told by one of the boys at the Sydney WW show that it would be up two weeks after that event. A month and a half later . . .

But in reality the only benefit I can see in having an "Australian Site" would be online ordering and I don't need that additional temptation.
