Thanks for the reply Derek. I was going to buy one if those camber accessories for the veritas honing jig, would this make it easier?

And do you go straight from the grinding wheel to the secondary bevel (50 degrees) or do you flatten out the hollow grind first then go up the grits?

Ok, so i'm back looking at the bronze 4 1/2's. Is there anyone willing to sell their LN? I have a iron LN 4 1/2 (with a 50 degree frog) which can be included in a swap with money.

I have a 4 1/2 a no. 3 and a no. 5 1/2 all with 55 deg frogs. And for, me at any rate they are great.

There can't be many owners of bronze LN #4 1/2s in Australia. Your chances of buying one would increase substantially if you made the same offer on a US forum, such as WoodNet or Saw Mill Creek.

Hi I would like to throw in, I have a HNT smoother and with the 6mm thick A2 blade this is the most easy and stable blade I have ever honed, I dont worry about a micro bevel as with the stability when honing repeat sharpening is quicker and easier to just keep honing flat, I got a giddge one and the wood is so hard I havn't been able to mark the bottom yet, the bottom is absolutly dead flat and the last piece I did was a 4m X 450 rough planed piece of aussie rosewood with 20 yrs seasoning on it, the HNT took it to perfect flat and smoothed in 2.5 hrs easy working with the last half hour with the blade rehoned and fliped over as a 90 deg scraper. With a straightedge on it it was dead flat all directions and that was all by feel !!! The plane was on sale as it had a quote flaw in it unquote that I can't even see and cost less than a crap stanley! now using it to square up miters in NGRW moldings as it is superb to use on a shooting board as the friction is very low and it will pull off whole shavings around .02 mm for perfect miters
