Some great links found from Claw Hama's links ...

This might be worth looking at for a (beginning) carver. It is a pdf re "Weekend Workshop Series 17th Century Carving with Peter Follansbee" ... and shows his suggestion for tools to bring.

Somehow got to this moulding-plane maker: MS BICKFORD Hand Planes
and his blog: Musings from Big Pink

This site was referred to by Chris Schwarz's course note, and has great links:

    These two tool-chests:

And a lot on scraper planes:

That is indeed very nice. Since I don't have a FB account anymore I can't see all the albums. Is there by any chance more pics of the tool box?

Funny thing is, both those toolboxes at LN are from the same guy, hence their resemblance! These were made by Wes Sunderland. He had both of them with him at Roy's class. I just snapped the one I liked better!

He does very nice work. He said the larger one weighs 102 lbs.

And I just noticed they now have photos of the class posted at Weekend Workshop with Roy Underhill (August 2012) | Facebook.

You can see a couple more shots of both toolboxes. Mine is photo number 8, nothing nearly so pretty. They also linked to my blog post in their FB post, cool!

I wanted to know more about the saw you used on the board resawing ... do you remember?

Thanks, Paul! Here's the comment I added in reply to yours:

The saw is 26" from toe to heel, 6 TPI, zero rake. Just be sure you read part 3 of this series, with the photo captioned "When good resaws go bad"! Resawing a 12"-wide piece of mahogany was perhaps a bit too ambitious. The solution is to rip it, resaw the rips, then glue them back together, much like making a guitar back, so that's what I did in part 3.

    Cheers, mate!
