Thanks Ian for the update. I am busy amassing materials for the day when I find I am at a loose end and will get seriously stuck into this type of project.

To echo some of your comments regarding my various ventures, I can see a point in time, maybe a hundred years from now, where the enthusiasts of the day (remnant pockets of survivors from the ravages of multitudinous viruses that swept through the world for decade upon decade) will ponder why there was an unexplained surge in infill planes around the twenties. You and the frequenters of the hand tool segment of the Forum will be chortling in our graves at the mischief, primarily you, will have caused.

    Regards
    Paul

Edit: I have just wondered if the resurgence in interest in hand tools at this point in the 21st century is what they mean by 2020 vision?

I don't think my paltry contributions will have much to do with it Paul. Funnily enough, there's been a spate of infill plane-making going on across the globe, judging by recent activity on other Forums. One bloke in Pomland has been spitting out mitre planes like they were cherry-pits. This started before lockdown, so we can't blame it on CORVID-19.

I reckon a hundred years from now, the surviving artefacts of the woodworking era will be sitting in museums along with pictures of the (now extinct) trees that once provided this stuff called wood that these quaint folk played with....

    Cheers,
    IW
