    Default Who manufactured this chisel

G'day all, my brother found (literally on the side of the road) this chisel.

I am trying to identify it by the markings but they are very faint.

The most distinguishable feature appears to be two cherries with two leaves and what is left of the sticker (sorry about the blur).

    Any help appreciated.

    Stuart J.

Hi Brizylad - strange as it may seem, 'Two Cherries' IS the brand, and they are still being made as we speak. Try googling "Two Cherries, Hirsch" & you'll get lots of info. Yours looks like an oldie, and a very good find - whoever lost it won't be pleased (unless thay were taking a load of 'old rubbish' to the dump!).

    Cheers,

No - I probably wouldn't have either, it's too obvious!

The word/words under the two cherries trade mark may end with GARANTIE
The handle looks for all the world like a Titan handle and the remains of the sticker seem Titan-like to me.
As the boys have said already, this should be a good chisel if the blade is not pitted on the back.

How do you stick Two Cherries in a Titan??

Image of the Two Cherries blade stamp from Hersteller Wilhelm Schmitt, Remscheid from Eingangsseite der Website Alte-Beitel. This website posted recently by wjordan in the "Phoenix" thread certainly has a lot of information!

I've emailed him about my chisel (the phoenix/eagle one) as I couldn't find it on his site.

Looks like a titan handle to me.. Would have been rehandled. The steel in the kirschen are excellent- I have really old and some newer ones...

Just picked up on the fact that Tom said exactly the same thing as me, but way earlier. Maybe I should read these things first....
