Default Manufacturer of saw, help needed

An old saw inherited from my Dad. All I can make out on the blade is "Saw no. 78B" Any ideas who made this saw and is it worthwhile to clean, sharpen and use ... ??

Very hard to say without pictures but in general most old saws clean up well unless the rust is really bad or its been kinked.

Pennsylvania Saw Co made a #78 16" Back Saw

Perhaps they also made a 78B

Yes, some pictures would help and in the meantime whether it is a full size hand saw, a panel saw (24" blade or less) or a backsaw. A closeup of the medallion too gives some more information usually.
