Marcou Plane with O1 blade
I just had this box delivered today. Its a brand new, hand built, Marcou S20A smoothing plane with a O1 blade.
The "S" corresponds to the fact it is a smoother and the "20A" corresponds to the 20 degree bed angle.
The blade is supplied ground at 25 degrees and honed at 30 degrees.
It has a starting cutting angle of 50 degrees.
The plane weighs in at 3.7 kilo's. The bronze lever cap alone weighs over 600 grams!
It is a beast, and I cant wait to take it for a test drive.
The knob and tote are Rhodesian Teak. It looks beautiful with the brass sides and bronze lever cap, though my opinion may be biased!
The O1 blade has been manufactured by Philip. His planes will also accept the Veritas blades. The plane also features an adjustable mouth.
The quality of Philip's work is stunning. These pictures certainly dont do it any justice.
Christopher Schwarz reckons "owning a Marcou, is like owning a Jaguar".
I beg to differ, owning a Marcou, is like owning a Rolls Royce.
Regards, Justin.

Congratulations on such a fine purchase. My fear for you is that it looks too good to use.
Have fun with it.

(now I just have to find something to wipe the drool off the keyboard)
If you either:
• don't like it to use; and
• think it's darn fugly
Then I'd be very happy to take it of your hands for no expense.
