    Default Marking knife

I thought I would share pictures of a couple of marking knives I made from pen blanks bought from Mapleman [cheers Chris] these are fabulous. Blades are just ruffed out ,still need to shape and heat treat. Post on how to do this are on youtube. Just wanted to show how nice this timber is.

    Default The Knives.

    Hi Gezwa,
Great Job, but am puzzled as to what Steel you used.
Mine are nowhere near as Elegant as yours, but in the past I have used 2mm. thick Hacksaw Blade, & of course they are HSS, therefore no need to heat treat.
    Just a few thoughts.
    Regards,
    issatree.

    Thanks for the replies.
Issatree I have used reciprocating blades with these two and others that I am making with different shaped blades. As they are also HSS and don't need heat treating but I have found that because by the time I get to make something they have been used and Abused and as I am a carpenter who works on old an new houses I have ready supply of old blades. So I choose to re-temper. One of the pluses for me was finding that I have a ready supply of ferules, these are the spacers that push the clip end on a clicker pen from timberbits. I have a Heep of these, thought they were chrome but are only chrome plated so I cut them to size and sand and glue them on they are brass.
Hope this helps, if you want some blades and ferules let us now and I can send you some.
    Cheers Gerry
