Well it is a very simple grooving plane or plough plane, designed to cut grooves along the grain and near to the edge of a board.
There is a built in adjustable fence on the bottom so that you can adjust the distance of the groove from the edge of the timber.
This one has a limited range of adjustment - maybe 3/4 - 1 inch. The fence edge sits snug up against the edge of the board and the steel skate sits on the surface that you want to cut the groove into.
The blade is actually in upside down at the moment, and needs to be turned over, so that the groove in the middle of the back of the blade sits on the front of the rear metal skate.
Since it was your Dad's it may have sentimental value for you.
I don't think it is valuable in monetary terms, but others would be better informed than I am.
I would guess that Peter McBride would be the best authority on this.

PS Here is one from Peter's website that is for sale for $60

Here is another one with the same blade problem as yours.
It is currently listed on ebay:

Watch its progress to see what the market thinks of its value.

    HI Aussie,

I think your plane is a drawer bottom grooving plane - for cutting the groove in drawer sides to take the panel bottom.

from Goodman - Master was the trade name used by "AB Salmen's Successors PTY Ltd.'' for their machine made planes.

AB Salmen's Successors PTY Ltd was in business making planes from about 1926-1967

...And in 1926 R.Waxman bought out a long established business of AB Salman and added ''Sucessors Ltd'' to the name.

    Regards,
    Steve
