It doesn't seem to dissolve in mineral turpentine.
I might try methylated spirits. I'm not sure whether that would disagree with the spar varnish though.Cheers,
Eddie

Wikipedia (Varnish - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) says --
_________________________________
Solvent (traditionally Turpentine)
Traditionally, natural (organic) turpentine was used as the thinner or solvent, but has been replaced by several mineral based turpentine substitutes such as white spirit or "paint thinner", also known as "mineral spirit".

So it shouldn't affect it adversely: only thin it.

It will be dissolving or there would be no colour.
It just hasn't dissolved completely.
Time and heat should fix it.
Try warming the turps mix in a hot water bath.
