    Default Mirock Tools

    G'day everyone,

I thought I'd shine a spotlight on a custom tool maker I came across on Etsy. The guy makes some really interesting tools that border on functional art. Below are a couple of squares that Santa delivered early all the way from Ukraine. The try square has a touch of whimsy with the handsaw moving back and forth in a sawing motion.

I'm obviously a fan, and I'll be getting a couple more tools from him. I'm justifying it as a way to support Ukraine's war efforts.

    Cheers,
    Mike

I still love your bow tied "M". What sort of prices did you have to pay for such custom work?

The customized Try Square with "box" came to US $198 including shipping. Not exactly cheap, but pretty much what I expect to pay for a tool from a boutique maker. Woodpecker squares are around that price and they're more mass-produced. The customized Triangle square with "box" came to US$160. I chose this instead of the 6" Colen Clenton 45deg marker ($345 from HNT for the basic version). But let's not kid ourselves here, I'll probably end up buying the Colen Clenton as well down the track.

I bought a set of squares from him a while ago, I posted about them here Mirocks toolworks

Very pleased with his quality, these squares are as accurate as it gets, my purchase was a bit before the troubles started over there.

    Cheers Andrew

Good to hear positive feedback from a long-term user. Thanks again, AJ.
