dan.001 the saws are one Disston #8 & two no namers.
Blue-deviled nagh it set me back a cool $20 for the lot near cryed when I passed that hard earned twenty over .
the little anvil is a nice size, thinking of setting it in a small block of redgum with some bun feet, be real handy for small bench work.
A big thanks Andrew will pick one up next time I get out to carbatec & nice resto work on your No80 .
this lot makes a change from all the baby cloths & tupperwere i've been seeing lately .

When you have restored your No. 80 & the little anvil show us some photos & try not to rub it in too mutch

Don't book ya plane tickets just yet it's getting harder to find good junk sales & I don't need the competition , the 80 will get a clean & a new blade but not a resto + I'll pop a pic of the anvil up when it's done. time to plan the next G/sale map hopefully some more gems will turn up .

Had a couple of hours after the wife & little one went to bed last night so finally managed to open the packet my Kreg router plate came in a put together a router table. It's a bit lightweight due to the materials i had on hand but I'll either add a shelf or build cupboards either side of the router.

Beautiful Spear and Jackson Handsaw
By far the best Spear and Jackson saw I've seen- This model has a goreous double-loop beech handle with all of its original finish and the original paper label around the medallion. The paper label reads "All saws branded SPEAR and JACKSON are fully warranted. SPEAR and JACKSON have an experience as saw makers extending over 100 years." The blade is 26 inches and 7 points per inch crosscut. It has a mirror like finish to it and a bright, clear etch. In the middle of the plate the main etch reads "Made by New Process". Below that is the S&J Mermaid brand logo. Below that "London Spring, The perfection of quality and workmanship." To the left of the main etch it reads: "This saw is made of a secret grade of Special Vandium Steel which will keep a better edge than any other." To the right of the main etch it reads: "Extra High Temmper, It has to be set with a hammer instead of a plier saw set. Set the points of each tooth only. Reset frequently." The blade is dead straight and sharp, with a bold nib at the end. It has a fantastic "ring" to it. There are a few scratches and some small areas of tarnish that look worse than they do because of the bright finish on the rest of the blade. $85

hit the Wantirna market on Sunday & picked up a handfull of cheep chisels - three titans & no name Shefield + these two - a keenkutter socket from the states don't see to many of those floating round & a Robert Sorby with the kangaroo logo just love this one also found three old screwdrivers the best being a Mathieson from Glasgow that's now in my user collection.
Saturday was slow with only one titan & a large steel square + a few asst tools.

My first nibbed saw!
I know it's not Monday night ... but,
I just picked up my first saw with a nib
It's a little guy (or gal), 20" blade. 4 TPI rip.
It's probably been a pruning saw most of it's life.
No etch. No medallion.
After a touching up the teeth, it cuts pretty well.
I found it at a local garage sale .... price was $2
WP_20140130_002.jpg
It's current hanging out with my Disston crosscut and rip panel saws.
It seems happy in my workshop

This thread needs some more planes
This pair just turned up from Hans Brunner at a very fair price.
A sweetheart 5 1/4 household jack plane. I did need to do some work on the sole, but basically it was a clean, sharpen and go.
I've always wanted a 5 1/4. Probably only because I didn't have one.
WP_20140201_002.jpg
The other is a 9 1/2 block. I didn't have a regular angle block other than a 102 and 103.
This took a bit of work tweaking the bedding for the iron and the adjustments, but it now works very well.
WP_20140201_003.jpg
I could only just squeeze them into the stable
