Sweet, Dig the tote. Did it come with a knob for the front??

I have seen a couple of aluminium knobs but i don't know if they were cast by one of these companies or "user made"

Aluminium looks great when pollished, shame it never stays that way.

Luban , nobs and handles should be wood,, i reckon aluminion ,well you know the word i mean is just awful and it stains your hand black .give me wood any day.Lloyd.

True True Lloyd. Can't say that I'd be removing wooden handles to replace them with Aluminium myself.. I think perhaps they would have been marketed to trade schools and the like.

All keyed up for the Sunday Market tomorrow, daughter in tow which means there will be a bit of tug'o'war between the rust and the barbie dolls. Good thing I weigh more

OK - Sunday - Market day, yipee!
We haven't had a market for weeks because of all the wet weather. This is going to be good!
But wait, the girls think that they might like to come.
No problem, I'll just hook up the trailer for the little job I am going to do in town while they are getting ready. Will use my wife's car because "it might need fuel" so will fill up when we get to town. No problem.
....................................Fool!
Nearly an hour later - after the girls have gotten ready - we get into the car, I start the engine and am told, " Oh wait, I have left something inside."
Turn off the engine, pass the keys.................wait some more....................
Ten minutes later - I kid you not - we are finally on our way.
What is that blinking orange light on the dash - oh it's the low fuel light.
Check the gauge - hasn't moved off rock bottom.
Now, towing an empty trailer is like pulling a billowing parachute, and not the most fuel efficient way to travel. We limp into town on fumes and fill up.
Ever tried to find a spot in a busy petrol station towing a trailer?(...............groan inwardly.)
The car holds 60 litres according to the manual. 60.25 litres fits into the tank.
The morning has passed into its twilight hours and we still haven't hit the markets.
No problem - let's go.
Oh - that's right we are usually earlier than this aren't we, when car parks are easier to find. But wait, now we have a car .......and trailer to park.( .Groan...............aloud.)
Find one .. a long way away, so walk to the markets. Hooray, we arrive, but any expectation of finding the early gems has long gone, and I resign myself to buying bananas.
A quick check of the tool tables reveals my deepest fears - same old junk, and empty space where something - obviously desirable - has been.
So a chat with the vendors then.
Old mate says "you should have been here earlier...." (groan again.)
Then.......... "did I show you my drawknives? And a bloke just dropped these off.............................."
A choir of angels appears singing the Halleluia chorus, as he produces, not one, but three different drawknives, and a pair of patternmakers gouges.

I bought one of the drawknives - a lovely little Greenlee, and both gouges - an I. Sorby and a Thos Ibbotson.
It will take ages to recount how long it took to round up the girls and get home.
But - oh happy day - the pain was worth it.

Hi Folks Keep em coming, it's great fun to see what everybody is bringing home.

Found this little guy during the week. I love these older excelsior style block planes. This one is definitely going to take a place in my kit.. only trouble is I'm trying to stick to a "one in - one out" rule bah!.. so I have to evict someone
It is a bevel up plane.. maybe I can grind the bevel a little steeper than the rest and call it a totally different tool??.. like nothing else in my kit?

Does any one else make these stupid rules with themselves?

I make it a rule not to have rules. (Thought that I would copy the resolution passed at a recent meeting of the local anarchists society)
Seriously though - can you really have too many block planes? Surely one of each type isn't going too far - or is it?

My better half was arguing a very similar point today Tom.
If you like it, keep it.. you don't drink, smoke, gamble, eat out, etc etc etc.. have all the planes you want for petes sake!

I suspect she may be planning an addition to her own collection though... silencing my cries of protest well in advance
